Homeless World Cup Trials
4th Apr 2016
Since hearing the official announcement that Scotland will be hosting this year’s Homeless World Cup in Glasgow’s George Square, there has been an incredible buzz around here HELP Ltd. A committed group of our young people who have been engaging in the football with Street Soccer each week in Greenock are all showing great enthusiasm, excitement and determination to get involved in the event, with the ultimate goal of making it into the Scotland squad.
The first round of trials have been organised throughout Scotland on different days in different areas to give the entire Scottish Homeless population an opportunity to try out. We had six of our young people, 3 from Dunoon and 3 from Rothesay, attending the trials held in Greenock on the 4th of April at the Lady Octavia Sports Centre. On the day, all of our young people put on a fantastic display of sportsmanship and skill: really doing themselves proud. The boys all came away feeling brilliant about themselves and full of optimism as the those selected to be taken into the next stage of trials in Edinburgh is yet to be decided.
Best of Luck to all who tried out, and here’s hoping.
